THE STRUCTURED SIDE OF CREATIVITY

Creativity has nothing to do with chaos. What for some immediately means freedom and spontaneity sounds to me somehow like fatalism, luck, and chance. Very beautiful and romantic things, but I wouldn’t want to leave their future development to them. So it’s better to plan, because you can’t really force anything, stress being one of the biggest creativity brakes ever. Yes, you read that right, plan! And regularly make time for brainstorming to give the thoughts and ideas that you experience anew every day or have accumulated from time to time a framework in which they can unfold. To review them, again and again, completely without pressure or judgment. Not that pressure arises to finish something urgently. Simply perceive, explore, contemplate, gently but with a plan. With structure. When something circles in your mind and soul repeatedly, it usually leads to a direction in which a story can emerge. That should be proof enough that art doesn’t just strike us, but we carry it within us. It’s about exploring possibilities, finding the access again and if desired more and more often, to draw from this special source when we feel like it. Songs, books, films, poems, and much more have an intention. A message. A structure, a melody, a plot, a dramaturgy, an intention. Anything but chaotic, right? What do you think about that? How do these impulses feel to you? I would be very happy to hear from you or read your thoughts.
